Job description

Join Cubist as we build the infrastructure layer securing the next generation of institutional digital asset operations.

Cubist's platform (CubeSigner, Confidential Cloud Functions (C2F), and Bascule) protects the most sensitive keys and logic for trading firms, banks, payment processors, and the protocols powering onchain finance. We safeguard keys in FIPS-140 certified HSMs and TEEs, sign transactions 200x+ faster than MPC-based solutions, and enable customers to enforce programmable policies and run private smart contracts inside secure hardware.

We are looking for a Product Marketing Lead to be Cubist's first dedicated marketing hire, owning how we tell our story to the world. You will translate deeply technical capabilities into compelling narratives for institutional buyers across crypto-native firms, trading firms, and tradfi institutions. This is a player-coach role with a clear path to Head of Marketing as the function scales.

You'll report to the President and work directly with engineering, product, and BD leadership to define and execute Cubist's go-to-market narrative.

About the Role

This is a foundational role for a marketer who understands technical infrastructure and knows how to sell it to sophisticated buyers. You will spearhead Cubist's positioning, demand generation, and brand presence across the institutional digital asset ecosystem.

You will act as the connective tissue between engineering, product, and BD, transforming complex capabilities (TEE-based signing, policy enforcement, confidential compute) into clear, differentiated narratives that resonate with CTOs, Heads of Trading, custodians, protocol founders, and risk officers.

Key Responsibilities

Positioning & Messaging:

  • Own end-to-end product positioning and messaging across Cubist's product suite (CubeSigner, C2F, Bascule), tailored to distinct buyer personas across crypto-native firms, trading firms, and tradfi institutions.

  • Develop the core narrative that differentiates Cubist from MPC providers, HSM vendors, and competing key management platforms.

  • Build technical marketing collateral including one-pagers, case studies, website copy, sales decks, and solution briefs that BD can deploy in active deals.

Demand Generation & Pipeline:

  • Design and execute demand generation programs that drive qualified pipeline for the BD team across both inbound and account-based motions.

  • Define marketing metrics and reporting (pipeline contribution, MQLs, conversion rates, CAC) and report against them to leadership.

  • Partner closely with BD on account-based campaigns targeting priority institutional accounts.

Brand & Thought Leadership:

  • Establish Cubist's thought leadership through technical content, blog posts, research reports, security analyses, and executive ghostwriting.

  • Build and nurture analyst and press relationships that shape how the category is defined and how Cubist is perceived within it.

  • Own Cubist's voice across digital channels including website, SEO, paid acquisition, and social/X presence.

Events & Field Marketing:

  • Own Cubist's presence at industry conferences (Consensus, Token2049, Permissionless, ETH Denver, EthCC, and tradfi-adjacent events) including booth strategy, speaking submissions, sponsored content, and BD enablement.

  • Drive pre-event, on-site, and post-event programs that convert conference activity into pipeline.

Team Building:

  • Operate as a player-coach IC, doing the work yourself today while building the playbook for a marketing function that will scale.

  • Hire and scale the marketing team over time as Cubist grows, with a clear path to Head of Marketing.

About You

You speak the language of institutional digital assets. You understand the difference between MPC and TEE-based signing, why custody quality matters to a trading firm's CTO, and how a tradfi institution evaluates infrastructure vendors.

Experience: 5+ years in product marketing, growth marketing, or technical marketing roles, ideally with time spent at crypto infrastructure, fintech, or developer-facing B2B companies.

Technical Fluency: You can confidently discuss key management architectures, signing schemes, and the security/policy concerns of institutional buyers. You don't need engineers to explain the product to you twice.

Writing & Storytelling: You write clearly and persuasively about technical topics. You can move fluidly between a 500-word LinkedIn post, a research report, and a sales deck.

Buyer Empathy: You've marketed to sophisticated institutional buyers (CTOs, Heads of Trading, custodians, risk officers, protocol founders) and understand how their evaluation processes differ from typical SaaS buyers.

Builder Mentality: You want to be the first marketing hire at a high-leverage company, not the tenth at an established one. You're excited to do the work yourself before hiring a team.

Network: Existing relationships with crypto-native press, analysts, podcast hosts, and conference organizers are a strong plus.

About Cubist

Cubist is a self-custody operating system for programmable money, tokenized assets, and onchain finance across public and private blockchains. We empower global institutions including banks, payment processors, trading firms, and crypto protocols to safely automate digital asset operations using their own sensitive data and business logic. This is possible because of Cubist's:

Security: Keys are safeguarded using FIPS-140 certified HSMs and TEEs.

Speed and Scale: CubeSigner signs transactions 200+x faster than MPC-based solutions, with horizontal scaling to millions of TPS.

Programmable Policy Engine: Customers define exactly when each key can sign (e.g., "only mint if collateral > X", "only transfer if internal KYC has passed").

Confidential Cloud Functions (C2F): With C2F, customers run "private smart contracts": complex logic such as compliance checks that executes inside secure hardware and produces cryptographic proof of exactly what ran.

About the Cubist Team

Cubist's founders include a former fintech COO, and cryptography and security professors from UC San Diego and Carnegie Mellon University who collectively have published more than 90 papers on computer security. Members of our team designed the cryptography underlying Ethereum and Avalanche and we're backed by top-tier investors including Polychain, dao5, and Paxos.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits

  • Company-sponsored 401(k)

  • Home-office stipend

  • Company retreats and offsites
